Alabama dominates Florida Atlantic, 40-7

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC)- The Crimson Tide came out strong again on Saturday and played dominantly for the win in their game against Florida Atlantic.

Alabama came out strong in their first possession. Three plays into the game, QB A.J. McCarron connected to Kenny Bell for a whopping 85-yard touchdown. Jeremy Shelley ?added the first of many extra points.

After a quick stop of the Owl offense, Bama's offense returned to the end zone. A 12-play drive to cover 63-yards saw McCarron connect to DeAndrew White for a 4-yard touchdown. Shelley's kick was good to bring the score to 14-0.

In the very beginning of the second quarter, the Tide found themselves at 4th and 8 on the Owl 35. Cade Foster took the field to kick a 52-yard field goal with only 11 seconds expired in the 2nd quarter. The next points would also be a field goals as Jeremy Shelley kicked with 10:31 left in the half. The 26-yard kick brought the score to 20. At the 5:22 mark, Shelley returned to the field to kick a 30-yarder to put Alabama at 23.

Alabama decided to add another touchdown to the pile before going into halftime. The Tide offense was able to cap off a 12-play drive with only 8 seconds remaining in the half. McCarrona threw to Christion Jones for a 4-yard touchdown. The Shelley kick put the score at at 30-0.

In the third quarter, long kicker Cade Foster was the only one to add to the score. Following a sack on McCarron, Alabama was looking at 4th and 18 at the Owl 29. Foster kicked the 46-yard field goal for a score of 33.

In the 4th quarter, Alabama started off with an 8-play drive for 44 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown by Kenyan Drake was an 8-yard rush and the first rushing touchdown by Alabama. Shelley's kick was again good.

The Owls managed to put points on the board near the end of the 4th. A tough 15-play drive over 75 yards gave Florida Atlantic a well-earned touchdown when a Graham Wilbert crossing pass was complete to Alex Deleon for 6 yards and into the endzone. Mitch Anderson kicked the field goal for a score of 40-7.

This wrapped up the game with Alabama having another very strong win. Next week, Alabama hosts Ole Miss for an 8:15 p.m. kickoff.
